Pork Giniling with Oyster Sauce

Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

To cook Filipino food means having a pretty good grasp of various seasonings and condiments to make a dish more sprightly and distinct. But while going the unique route is applauded, we also can’t help but lean towards familiar ones that are proven to work great with a variety of recipes. In this case, I’m talking about this comforting, delectable combination of Pork Giniling with Oyster Sauce.

pork giniling with oyster sauce and potato

Pork Giniling, in itself, is rich, savory and soothing with its mix of vegetables and thick stew. Such a dish utilizes the likes of potatoes and carrots for some added texture. We also have tomato sauce to provide flavor. But integrating the perfect little detail of oyster sauce makes a big difference in the taste as well. There is a sense of sweetness that can complement the delicious tomato sauce, as well as the meat.

How about we give this a go, and cook some delicious Pork Giniling with Oyster Sauce right at home?

How to make Pork Giniling with Oyster Sauce:

First, you have to grab ¼ cup of cooking oil, and place it in your pan. Apply some heat. Now when it is hot, you can add 2 potatoes you’ve diced, and pan-fry this. You will know that it’s good to go once the exterior becomes light brown. That would be your sign to take the potatoes out of the pan, and set them aside because we will use them later.

Now we will still use the pan, and its remaining oil so don’t throw this away just yet. Place 1 onion you’ve diced, 3 cloves of garlic you’ve minced, and 2 tomatoes you’ve diced in the pan. Then sauté these all together until the onion has gotten soft. Then you can put 1 lb. of ground pork inside. We will cook this up for 2 minutes while stirring.

Adding some of our liquid seasonings:

Then go ahead and add 2 ½ tablespoons of soy sauce into the pan, as well as 1 cup of water. Put the heat on low, and let this all cook without the cover on top. Keep this up until the liquid has reduced to half. And then we will pour in 3 tablespoons of oyster sauce, and cook this up for 5 minutes.

And remember the diced potatoes we had earlier? It’s time to integrate them into the dish, so place this into the pan again. Cook this for about 2 to 3 minutes, and then you can go ahead and add some ground black pepper to your preference. Now you’ve made it— a flavorful, semi-sweet and savory Pork Giniling with Oyster Sauce! Just serve this the way you would like, perhaps in a serving bowl for sharing with friends, or just scoop some up for yourself, and let the rest cool before you store it.
