Ice Candy

Ever had Ice candy before? To those who are clueless, Ice Candy is a type of frozen refreshment ideal to beat the heat of summer. The two common varieties of Ice Candy are fruits and Chocolate.

Ice-Candy

Almost any fruit can be used to make Ice Candy. Oranges, mango, and melon are among the most commonly used. However, there are creative individuals who went beyond the norm by creating the next level of fruit Ice Candies. Jack fruit and Durian Ice candies are just a few of them.

Chocolate Ice Candies are easier to make. The procedure is the same as making your own cocoa drink. Well– chocolate ice candies are literally frozen chocolate drinks. I enjoy having chocolate ice candy when I was a kid. I remember making my own weekly supply of Milo or Ovaltine ice candy every Sunday evening. There are instances when I run out of supply — good thing there are neighbors who sell Ice Candies. Back then, it was sold for Php 50 cents a piece.

Making your own Ice candy is simple. As long as you have the appropriate kitchen tools, equipment, and supplies — you should be good. It will be helpful if you use a blender to make fruit ice candies. This will make the texture of your ice candy smooth, while releasing the maximum flavor. You also need to have the transparent ice candy plastic case. These are narrow plastic cases or bags with a dimension of about 1.5 x 10 inches. These cases or bags will serve as individual packaging for the ice candies.

Have you tried making your own ice candy?

I really miss these! When I was a kid I made them at my house in the Philippines and sold them for 1 peso each… I don’t even know if that’s a profit or not! Hahaha.

I really miss them and I always look for the plastic wrappers here in California but I don’t know where to find them. ): Does anyone have any idea?

Buko ice candy is my favorite. My aunt in the province has a technique on how to make it yummy and sweet like ice cream. Oh, I miss it! 🙂
