Strawberry Angel Food Cake

Strawberry Angel Food Cake is basically an Angel Food Cake topped with fresh strawberries.

Angel Food Cakes are light and airy cakes. Some say that this was the reason why it was named this way. The secret in making light cakes such as this is in the manner of preparation. To be particular, the egg whites need to be whisked until tiny spaces of air are produced. This also makes the mixture stiff. Another factor is the method of mixing the stiff egg white mixture with the other ingredients called Folding. This method allows the mixture to mix with the ingredients in a gentle manner (see cooking verbs). Through this method, the air inside the egg white mixture is preserved – which makes the cake airy and light when baked.

Jelly Roll

A Jelly Roll is a cake made of thin sheets of sponge cake. Various types of Jellies or Jams are spread on this cake before it gets rolled-up. Jelly Rolls are also known as Swiss Rolls.

Kids love Jelly Rolls. This is definitely a big hit to the young (and to the young-at-heart). If you love Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich, strawberry jelly sandwich, or any sandwich with jams, you will surely love Jelly Roll.

Making yourself a Jelly Roll is not that hard. Although, you should be familiar with the basic aspects of making a cake such as mixing, folding, and baking, before trying this recipe. I recommend you to refer to our video in making Brazo de Mercedes so that you will be familiar with the techniques and procedures. As for the complexity, Jelly Roll is easier to make compared to Brazo de Mercedes.

Blueberry Muffins Recipe

Blueberry Muffin is one of the best muffin varieties that you should try. Muffins refer to breads that are baked in small quantities. The dough is often placed in paper cups and baked in muffin or cupcake pans.

Blueberry Muffin or any muffin variety can sometimes be mistaken as cupcakes. Muffins and cupcakes are two different things. Muffins are less sweeter and it does not have any frosting. I do not really think that the distinction is important. All that matters is the taste. Call it Blueberry Muffin or Blueberry Cupcake — it should not be an issue as long as you are enjoying it.

Angel Food Cake with Strawberries

Angel Food Cake is a popular sponge cake in the US. This light and airy cake is regarded as food for the angels, because of its properties.

This type of cake resembles the texture of a famous mini sponge cake in the Philippines called “Mamon”.

The method in making an angel food cake is quite different from the other traditional cakes. The eggs (whites only) are whipped using an electric mixer until soft peaks form. This technique allows more air to enter the mixture — making the cake sponge-like.
