The hosting of a Filipino celebration means an abundance of food and drinks ready to enjoy. From filling meats to an overload of carbs and a sweet ending, there’s no denying that Filipinos really know how to throw a party. And what’s a good party without a good old plate of baked macaroni? Incredibly compact with an endless burst of flavors, this pasta is a crowd favorite for a reason. Baked macaroni is a delicious and hearty guest at any party. But you don’t need a special occasion as a reason to eat this tasty treat! In fact, alternatively, you can make any day special simply by preparing this at your dining table.

No Oven Baked Macaroni

Generally, you make baked macaroni by –– as the name suggests –– baking it in the oven. But you’ll be surprised to learn that this recipe doesn’t require an oven at all! Instead, you’ll be baking your macaroni inside a device called a turbo broiler. This appliance is definitely a must have in any kitchen. Not only is it an incredibly convenient device, as you can bring it around much easier than an oven –– it’s also quite affordable! The price of a good turbo broiler outmatches that of an air fryer, for instance –– and with how many times you’ll be using it, it’s definitely worth the splurge. Indeed, a turbo broiler isn’t only good for baked macaroni; from lechon kawali to bagnet to roasted chicken, its list of uses is so versatile!

Making baked macaroni with a turbo broiler is a lot easier than you might think. The amount of time you usually take to make baked macaroni is reduced; only 20 minutes is enough to get your baked macaroni perfectly cooked! I guarantee that you and your family won’t be able to tell the difference between this recipe and an oven-baked one.

Baked Macaroni Ingredients

The Filipino baked macaroni isn’t the same as the classic American mac and cheese. Loaded with different ingredients, each bite of this dish is a flavorful bonanza in your mouth! This dish isn’t just overwhelmingly cheesy; it’s chock full of proteins like ground beef, hotdogs, and ham that make it more filling. A piece of Knorr Beef Cube is able to bring out even more beefy, hearty flavors in your pasta dish.

Additionally, this baked macaroni is made even more delicious with red bell peppers! Bright and summery, these bell peppers breathe vibrancy into this hearty dish. Its crunchy texture complements the macaroni perfectly, too! Bell peppers are also chock full of different nutrients, making it not only a yummy addition, but a healthy one.

Lastly, the combination of tomato sauce and banana ketchup makes this dish even more delicious. Sweet and tangy all at the same time, these two condiments serve to thicken the sauce and make it more delicious. Your baked macaroni wouldn’t be complete without these two ingredients! You can also opt to add all-purpose cream, to make your dish a little bit on the creamier side.

Altogether, these ingredients form a dish that are sure to be a hit at parties and dining tables! Let’s learn how to cook your no oven baked macaroni –– the Filipino way!

How to Make Baked Macaroni –– Without an Oven!

No Oven Baked Macaroni Recipe

Before cooking, be sure to have all your baked macaroni ingredients ready. Slice 3 pieces of hotdogs crosswise, then chop up 4 ounces of ham. Do the same to a piece of onion and 3 cloves of garlic. Slice up a piece of red bell pepper as well, and shred a cup of cheddar cheese. With those out of the way, you’re finally ready to start cooking!

Let’s make some Filipino style baked macaroni together! Cook your pack of elbow macaroni according to package instructions, then set aside once finished. Meanwhile, prepare your sauce by heating 3 tablespoons of cooking oil in a pot. Add your ground beef and continue to cook it until it achieves a nice brown color. It’s best to scoop out the oil every once in a while to prevent the sebo of the meat from accumulating.

The next step is to add your onion and garlic pieces. Sauté until the onion softens, then add your hotdogs and ham. After pouring in your tomato sauce and 2 ½ cups of water, stir, then bring your baked macaroni sauce to a boil by covering the pot and waiting. Add in your piece of Knorr Beef Cube, then cook it while uncovered on low to medium heat until you’ve reduced the liquid by half.

Add the banana ketchup and half of your bell pepper pieces, then stir your baked macaroni sauce once again. Then, your shredded cheese and all-purpose cream (if you’re using it) comes in next. Season your baked macaroni sauce with sugar, salt, and ground black pepper to taste. Stir and let your sauce thicken, then turn the heat off once you’re satisfied with the texture.

Pour in your cooked macaroni and gently fold them together, mixing until you’ve incorporated them both well. Then, in a clean baking tray, arrange the macaroni and sauce. Top with your remaining cheese and bell pepper, then pop it in the turbo broiler for 20 minutes, at 350F.
