Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

Fried tilapia in Coconut Milk is a Filipino dish locally known as Ginataang Tilapia. This version makes use of fried tilapia along with malunggay leaves (morninga). It is best eaten with a cup of warm white rice.

If you recall, I published a similar recipe for ginataang tilapia. I used fresh tilapia for that recipe. It was as delicious as this version. I think that the fresh tilapia version has a milder taste though.

Fried Tilapia in Coconut Milk Recipe

Making your own Fried tilapia in Coconut Milk is easy. Start by sautéing garlic, onion, and ginger in oil. This gives the dish an appetizing aroma. The coconut milk is added next and cooked until it boils. You will need to let the coconut milk boil for a while before adding the tilapia and pepper. Chili peppers are optional. Add this if you want your dish to be spicy. Season with fish sauce and then add the malunggay leaves last.
